Abstract

This article addresses the emergency and broadening of hard boiled fiction in Argentinean Chaco literature, stressing ways in which such literature shapes experiences of violence, subjectivities and spaces. The study considers a corpus of short stories and novels published between the 1960s and the 2010s, in connection to other social discourses and cultural practices. Consideration is given to novels by Mempo Giardinelli, Carlos Busqued and Mariano Quirós as they relate to State violence in the last Argentinean dictatorship and the shifts in the urban texture as a result of the continental expansion of Neoliberalism.
