Emphasis is given to Vallejo's innovative (and sometimes innocent) use of "non-poetic" words and images deriving from indigenous terms and popular speech, to his elevating the humble everyday routine of life in a 20th century Andean village by inserting it in the context of timeless and classical (Western) myth. And, finally, to his awareness of his own "incorrections" in making these innovations.</p> ER -
